Nassau County Immigration & Criminal Defense Lawyers

Recognized as one of the foremost firms practicing at the intersection of criminal and immigration law, we are the firm people turn to with the most difficult cases.  Since 1995, the Terezakis Law Firm has provided high quality legal representation to the residents of Nassau, Suffolk, and Queens Counties. We care about our clients and are dedicated to achieving the best possible results.

We help our immigration clients obtain their “green cards”, and become lawful residents; naturalize, and become U.S. citizens; and petition their family members to gain legal status. We are also experienced in the complex area of deportation – removal  defense.  Motions to terminate; cancellation of removal; asylum; and adjustment of status are some of the grounds we frequently use to prevent our clients’ deportation.

For nearly 30 years, we have also defended individuals facing criminal prosecution, many of whom are non-citizens.  We evaluate the impact criminal charges may have on our clients’ immigration status, and we work hard to obtain a favorable outcome which also avoids deportation. Our knowledge of criminal and immigration law ensures our clients understand the risks they face, and enables us to protect their immigration status. Our attorneys and paralegals are fluent in both Spanish and English. Our ability to speak directly to our clients, in their native language, ensures clear communication. If you need a lawyer to help you or a loved one with an immigration matter, or to defend against criminal charges, our experienced staff is here to help you. Mineola Criminal Defense Lawyers Who Understand Immigration

Serving Nassau, Suffolk, & Queens

An experienced criminal defense lawyer is important for anyone charged with a crime, but immigrants charged with crimes face unique challenges.  What may appear to be a favorable plea offer, can often result in deportation.  Our firm works hard to dismiss criminal charges, to negotiate a favorable plea agreement, and when necessary, will defend you at trial. If you are not a citizen, we will make sure you understand the immigration consequences of the choices available to you, so you can make informed decisions about your case.

Nassau County Green Card Residency Lawyer

Our firm has helped many immigrants gain legal status and become lawful permanent residents or “green card” holders, based on a petition filed by a relative who is a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.  U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents may be able to petition for their spouse, parent, child, or a brother or sister.  Sometimes the person can gain that status without leaving the U.S.,  through a process known as “adjustment of status,” while other times they may need to apply for a waiver and then go for an consular interview in their home country.  We also help our clients petition for family members who are living in another country.   In some cases, we are able to tell our clients they actually gained U.S. citizenship through their parents, without ever knowing it!

Gaining status as a lawful permanent resident of the United States, or as a “green card” holder, gives an undocumented person, and their family members, tremendous peace of mind.  Once granted that status, and barring certain criminal convictions,  the person may travel in and out of the U.S.; is authorized to work in the U.S.; and may eventually apply to naturalize and become a U.S. citizen.

Our firm has helped many individuals who entered the U.S. lawfully and then over-stayed their visas, or who entered the U.S. without inspection,  “legalize” and become lawful permanent residents.   We can also tell you whether any criminal convictions you may have prevent you from becoming a permanent resident or a U.S. citizen.  Let our team guide you through this often complicated and confusing process!  Call us now to schedule an appointment!

They really care for their clients and their families and they take on some of the most difficult cases I have seen and have been successful.
